The Writing Process
Brainstorming Ideas
Children develop ideas and fill in a graphic organizer.
Rough Draft
Students use the completed graphic organizer to create a rough copy.
Revision
The children work to revise the rough copies by:
* incorporating specific details
* including descriptive words and phrases
* creating varied sentence beginnings
* using more interesting and creative words
* developing attention-grabbing beginning and closing sentences

Editing
They edit the stories by:
* correcting spelling errors
* checking for appropriate capitalization for sentence beginnings,names and the word "I" * making sure punctuation is included
​
Final Copy
​
The students create an error-free final copy of their story.
